What is Type 1 SHW clause 803 (Formerly known as Primary MOT Type 1)?

Type 1 SHW clause 803 (formerly MOT Type 1)  is crushed carboniferous limestone or granite, used to create a sub base under patios, paving, driveways and artificial grass. It can be used for highways agency and section 278 works.

What is the difference between Primary Type 1 and Recycled Type 1 Aggregates?

While primary aggregates are taken straight from the ground for crushing and screening, recycled aggregates must first go through a decontamination and screening process to ensure they are produced under WRAP protocol diverting waste from landfill to produce Recycled products.

What is the difference between Recycled 6f2 and Recycled 6f5?

Recycled 6f2 is produced and used on site and Recycled 6f5 is imported to site.

What is the best sand to use for screeding?

What are the different types of crushed concrete?

Type 1 crushed concrete - 50mm down to dust. Can be used as a sub-base used for roads, and hardcore for car parks.
6f5 – 125mm down to dust
6f2 – 80mm down to dust
Oversized crushed concrete – 75mm-100mm (no fines)
Tarmac planings – these may vary in size so has no specific grading
Gabion fill – 75mm-200mm
 
What is a Sub-base?
 
The two most common sub-bases are Department of Transport (DOT) MOT Type 1 and MOT Type 3 crushed Limestone. Type 1 has a maximum size of 63mm down to dust and Type 3 is an open graded 40mm unbound mixture down to dust with reduced fines.
 

What is WAC testing?

WAC stands for Waste Acceptance Criteria, and is used to determine whether the sub soil will be accepted at a particular landfill. The test also provides more information about how the material will behave once deposited. WAC testing comprises two parts: solid analysis and leachate analysis.

How many tonnes can an 8 wheel tipper lorry carry?

Approximately 20 Tonnes or 14 cubic metres

What is BS3882 Topsoil?

A manufactured soil certified to the BS3882 standard for topsoils, screened to 10mm. This product is regularly tested ensuring consistency and quality all year round.
